Welcome

Successful return to Middle East

Glassman Middle East 2009 held in Dubai 8 - 9 November proved even more popular than the exhibition debut in Egypt in 2007. This, in spite of the economic downturn currently affecting industries worldwide.

The exhibition

meeting on stand

The exhibition was busy using every networking opportunity available; productive meetings were held on stands, in the VIP area and in the cafe facilities in the hall. Exhibitors displayed and demonstrated their latest developments in machinery, equipment and materials for the primary glassmaking industry, which spanned the entire manufacturing process.

Graham Wormesley from Pennine Industrial Equipment was extremely satisfied and praised the event: "We have met a nice mix of people from many different countries. Unlike other shows, this was truly international with the best people in the industry from around the world here. In the history of Glassman events, it was the best first day for us".

The conference

conference session

The conference was well received with standing room only available in many sessions.

There were two themed sessions over the two days; Glass quality improvement: Furnace design and Technological innovations in glass manufacture.

The keynote speech from Sherif Shawi, Mega Enterprise, was well received. He complimented the event describing it as an incredible show that provided great publicity for his company. He subsequently received many visitors to his stand following his opening speech. Geoff Evans from GlasRef Consulting's paper on 'Float glass melting - the impact of new, high-performance products' and Dr Bernd-Holger Zippe from Zippe Industrieanlagen's paper on 'Tailor-made modern batch plants for the international glass industry' also drew large crowds.

Glass International magazine

Glass International; the leading magazine for the primary glassmaking industry, supported the event and saw many industry professionals subscribe. Make sure you receive your issue each month by subscribing.

Next event

Glassman South America will take place in Brazil 9 - 10 March 2010. Many exhibitors at Glassman Middle East expressed their excitement for the event and complimented its location as the industry is flourishing in Brazil.
